The Projects of K5JR
KJR, known on the air as “The Johnny Rogers Show”, started out in 1951 as a birthday present for Johnny Rogers. The show was originally an AM radio show on KLIF in Dallas, Texas. In 1954, it moved to KFDA in Fort Worth and became a nighttime show.
The show aired its final episode on August 20th, 1975.
In 2007, Chris Lynch (the grandson of Johnny Rogers) decided to start restoring the shows and released them online for free download. Today there are over 175 episodes of “The Johnny Rogers Show” available online!

It was a beautiful day out when K5JR, an Amateur Radio operator, set out on his first solo expedition into the high country of Utah. Although he had been planning the trip for months, it was still a nerve-wracking experience to venture off by himself into uncharted territory. However, as he began making contacts with other hams in far-off areas and reporting back on conditions and weather forecasts, the feeling of accomplishment grew steadily. Today, K5JR has logged more than 8500 miles operating from remote locations all over North America – representing countless hours of valuable radio communications that have helped keep people safe during times of emergency!
